About

Hello!

Andrea grew up in the Great Plains of South Dakota, surrounded by grasslands, cornfields, and brothers. Raised on dirt bikes and homemade tortillas she lived life in-between as a mixed Mexican-American kid in the 80s Heartland.

Andrea weaved storytelling into her advertising and design career for 20 years, living in 7 cities across 3 countries, before settling in Denver and reconnecting with her love of children's books. When she isn’t working as an educator, she can be found in her backyard casita creating more stories to share.

Her worlds are filled with vibrant colors, quirky characters, unapologetic misfits, and curious observers. Stories of wonder, mischief, warmth, joy, and whimsy capture her heart. Themes of belonging, resilience, interconnectedness, family, ancestral lore, and everyday magic speak to her soul.

Running my fingers through prairie grass, finding smooth skipping stones, listening to a babbling brook, the feel of ocean waves on my feet, the sound of a crackling fire, the sound of birds chirping, the smell of a new book, hugs from my boys, my kitty’s fur, singing when no one is listening.

I took piano for 13 years and still play when I can, I love to run (for long distances), read, write, draw, hike, walk, garden, practice my Spanish, take in art of all forms, hang out with my boys and my friends, dance, eat good food, daydream, and travel!!!
